Our gardens have never produced more food for our students, schools and community than the summer of 2021. Working alongside community partners
like Denver Urban Gardens, SustainEd Farms, Grow Local, International Rescue Committee, and Focus Points Family Resource Center, DPS gardens grew hundreds of pounds of produce that went directly into farm shares, food banks and school distribution centers. As the vegetables grew, so did our community as students, interns, volunteers and nonprofits worked together to ensure our garden spaces were utilized and productive. With more than 120 gardens in DPS, we have the ability to grow food for our community while reducing resource consumption and becoming stewards of our land, community and history.
The DPS Sustainability Team is here to support your garden and green space initiatives. We have seed starting supplies, grow lights and even solar oven kits available for educators. We will work with you through planning and project implementation. If you have a garden at your school and could use support and a community partnership please reach out to christopher_woodburn@dpsk12.net.
