Yellow Fleet – Green Is The New Yellow
5-Year Goal: 12% of buses are zero “tailpipe” emissions.
Travel in quiet, low-emissions style with electric buses. In fall of 2021, DPS bought its first electric bus with grant funding and has immediate plans to purchase two more. DPS will be working to increase efficiency of the entire fleet over time, including new route strategies. In addition, charging stations are being developed to keep the new buses running clean and on time!
White Fleet – What’s Black & White And Green All Over?
5-Year Goal: 7% of vehicles are zero “tailpipe” emissions.
District vehicles are going green, too! Green mobility strategies and concepts will be integrated into the district’s “White Fleet” procurement strategy. Vehicles will be replaced with electric counterparts, as well as optimizing jobs and routes for efficiency.
Commuter – Get To The Route Of The Matter
5-Year Goal: Create an incentive program to increase alternative modes of transportation to DPS locations.
Single Occupancy Vehicles are so passé. Finding alternate modes of transportation to and from schools will help reduce harmful emissions. These modes include public transportation through partnerships with RTD, enhancement of bike lanes and bike routes around schools, improved walking infrastructure, and an incentive program for participation.
